Cycling

The Paint Creek Scenic Trail's secluded and scenic roadway has made cycling a popular activity along the Trail. Bikers should be aware that coal trucks frequently use the byway, and appropriate caution is necessary. Additionally, a large segment of the Trail is single lane, and a section of the Trail between Mossy and Mahan is currently in need of maintenance due to potholes. For those who prefer biking off-road, rides are possible along the Ash Branch Trail, and also along an unofficial rail-trail that connects Standard and Mahan. Both of these trails are unofficial and are not maintained by the Paint Creek Scenic Trail Association. Rail-trail users are advised to be aware of posted private property along the pathway. Nearby Plum Orchard Lake offers riding possibilities along old logging roads and trails.
