DirectionsThe majority of the Paint Creek Scenic Trail follows Paint Creek Road. The exception is the Trail's southern 7 miles, which use a combination of Dry Hill Road and Sweeneysburg Road to access Paint Creek Road from Tamarack. Click here for a detailed map of the Trail. Listed below are many possible ways to access the Trail. Directions to Tamarack (southern terminus):To reach Tamarack, take Exit 45 from I-77 (WV Turnpike) and follow the signs to Tamarack. From Tamarack, follow Vankirk Drive from the parking area to Dry Hill Road. Turn right (west) onto Dry Hill Road. Travel 1.1 miles and bear left onto Sweeneysburg Road. Sweeneysburg Road continues for over 6 miles before running into Paint Creek Road. Paint Creek Road continues north all the way to the end of the Trail. Directions to Hansford (northern terminus):Via Exit 74: Access to Paint Creek Road is available from Exit 74 about 6 miles south of Hansford. Access from other Turnpike exits:Pax Exit 54: Exit 54 accesses Paint Creek Road in the town of Pax. If you decide to travel south toward Beckley, turn right at the Kountry Korner restaurant/gas station in Pax to remain on Paint Creek Road. Access from US 19:Oak Hill: Route 612 connects US 19 in Oak Hill with Paint Creek Road at Mossy (Exit 60). |
