Fishing

Fishing opportunities abound on the Paint Creek Scenic Trail. Informal access to Paint Creek is available at occasional pulloffs between Pax and Ash Branch Park. Please be aware of posted property. The West Virginia Department of Natural Resources stocks trout along parts of Paint Creek. Designated fishing sites exist at several points along and near the Trail. Kanawha River Boat Dock
Fishing and boating is available here along the Kanawha River. Local knowledge of the water is necessary for boating due to shallows near the dock.

Paint Creek Trout Stocking
WVDNR regularly stocks portions of Paint Creek with trout during the spring.

Paint Creek Trout Stocking - C&R Area
Paint Creek's catch and release area is stocked once each April.

Plum Orchard Lake is just a few miles off the Trail and offers excellent warmwater fishing in beautiful surroundings.
