This block of buildings, built in ca. 1915 by George Humphrey, represents the core of the original commercial district of Pax. The numerous businesses and services once contained within this block were dry goods, bank, pool hall and post office. A boardwalk ran along the “front” of structures facing the train tracks. Structures have been altered and the original building materials are overlayed with wood siding. However, these buildings still function as they originally did, providing facilities and meeting places for the community and commercial importance of the railroad to Pax. |
