5/25/10 - PCST Interpretive Brochure Now Available
The Paint Creek Scenic
Trail Association recently published an interpretive brochure that
contains a fascinating historical overview of Paint Creek, and a
detailed map of the byway. The brochure enables travelers to take
a self-guided tour through Paint Creek's historic points of

5/1/10 - Coal Heritage GeoTrail Kickoff
The Paint Creek Scenic Trail
Association joined with the National Coal Heritage Area on Saturday,
May 1 at the Maxwell Hill Community Center in Beckley to kick off the
Coal Heritage GeoTrail, West Virginia's first geocaching trail.
The Coal Heritage GeoTrail consists of sixteen geocaches hidden
throughout the National Coal Heritage Area in southern West
Virginia. Three of the caches are located along the Paint Creek
Scenic Trail. The goal of the Coal Heritage GeoTrail is to
attract more tourists to southern West Virginia. The Paint Creek
Scenic Trail Association is hopeful that the GeoTrail will draw more

2/12/10 - New Paint
Creek Book Published
Dale Payne recently
authored a new book on the history of Paint Creek titled "A Pictorial
History of Paint Creek: 1750's - 1950's". This book contains a
multitude of photographs and historic narratives. Click Here for more information.
1/23/10 - Mossy Kiosk Finished
The Paint Creek Scenic
Trail's first interpretive kiosk has been completed off Turnpike Exit
60 in Mossy. Thanks to all the hard work and dedication by
volunteers of the Paint Creek Scenic Trail Association to make this
happen. The interpretive signs highlight the history of Paint
Creek's coal camps and the story of the rehabilitation of Paint Creek's

10/24/09 - Paint Creek
Cleanup Day
Successful
On Saturday
October 24th,
the Paint Creek Scenic Trail Association hosted a cleanup day in
conjunction with Make a Difference Day 2009. Volunteers from
Mount Hope High School,
AmeriCorps VISTA, and the local community made this day a success.
Countless bags of trash were removed from the creek and road. Thanks to
